TW: Murder, transphobia, transmisogyny

Jennifer Laude, a trans Filipina woman, was allegedly killed last week by a U.S. Marine who was in the Philippines as part of a military exercise.

According to various reports, Jennifer was out with a friend and another person (a “foreigner with a military style haircut,” so presumably the suspect, Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton). They returned to a hotel together, and Laude’s friend says she was worried about how the other person would react when he found out they were trans.

Laude was later found strangled to death in the hotel. Pemberton is currently in custody.

There have been protests in both the US and in the Philippines demanding justice for Laude and an end to the continued presence of US troops in the Philippines. On the 14th, around 40 protesters showed up and burned an American flag outside the US Embassy in Manila to show that they would not stand by silently. They waved flags and held signs that read “US troops out now!” and “No to US bases in PH!” Corky Hope Maranan, leader of a Filipina trans and lesbian group said that the crime is “…just so abominable. It’s one of the worst hate crimes I’ve seen,” and demanded that an arrest be made. …

So often with murders of and attacks on trans women of color, the police refuse to call it a hate crime or even arrest a suspect and bring charges. However, after the protests, the US Marine is now being held and has been charged with the murder of Jennifer LaudePrivate First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton is currently in US custody, but a senior Philippine official said that the Philippine government wants to take custody of him and that this case could damage the military relationship between the US and the Philippines.

"Why did it have to be a Chimera?!"

My entry for FFXIV FanFest’s art contest, which I managed to send in just before the deadline. I’m all about Treasure Hunting on my adventure! If you’ve been working on those Peisteskin maps, I’m pretty sure you might be familiar with this scenario… (Hopefully, Enko Namaki has some party members behind her!)

We made it to FanFest, hooray!!!

congrats on the win harhar

This is honestly the best poster I have found in a while supporting breast cancer awareness. I am honestly so sick of seeing, “set the tatas free” and “save the boobies”. There is no reason in hell a life threatening, life ruining disease should be sexualized. “Don’t wear a bra day,” go fuck yourselves. You’re not saving a pair of tits, you’re saving the entire package: mind, body, and soul included. Women are not just a pair of breasts.
